Have you Heard? ad:tech San Francisco is the Word!

Apr
24

So everyone knows San Francisco… and all digital marketers know about ad:tech and we hope that everybody knows about Matomy! This is why I thought the combination at ad:tech San Francisco was so great.

April 9-10 was the date this year for the digital marketing super show that is ad:tech San Francisco. The venue location of the show (Moscone Centre) is located only a few meters from Union Square in the heart of San Francisco’s business area which created and boosted the level of excitement even before the show due to the number of ‘ad:tech-ers’ in the area.

The first day of the show felt like the entire world gathered for this huge online-marketing mega event and it’s great that Matomy had the chance to take part in it! There is no doubt that participating in such an event has a significant impact on the way you look at the industry – giving you the right feeling of how big and influential we are and how other people see us.

My goals at the show were certainly achieved as I arrived with a fully booked schedule; back-to-back meetings with new and existing partners. Having these face-to-face meetings definitely contributes to business relations and presents valuable opportunities.

Even though the show was fun, productive and inspiring, the real work starts now – making the business dreams come true.

I am looking forward to a great quarter, with new and exciting business opportunities and to shatter my revenue goals.

The Mega Mobile Show that is… Mobile World Congress (2013)

Mar
12

The wonderful works of Gaudí, the awe inspiring Sagrada Familia, the breathtaking atmosphere at the Camp Nou – Barcelona, the heart of Catalonia is well known for many things but in the last week of February it was known for one thing: Mobile.

The Mobile World Congress (MWC), held at the magnificent Fira Gran Via this year certainly lived up to its expectations.

Tens of thousands of mobile enthusiasts flowed in – each with their own agenda, whether it’s a beginning app developer looking for monetization, global software companies or even the industry’s biggest and brightest looking to launch their brand new devices – anyone who’s anyone took a part in this monstrous event. And so did Matomy.

Matomy’s booth, located in Hall 8.1, aka App Planet drew the attention of hundreds of daily spectators looking to explore a potential partnership. The team this year consisted of six determined individuals including myself, Erez Gross, SVP Mobile led the assembly along with Adi Shitrit, Director of Mobile Advertising. Noa Benvenishti, Manager of  Mobile Product granted the technical and analytical guidance and Simcha Singer, Sales Manager took care of business (development). CEO of Matomy LATAM, José Luis Valdivielso sealed the list, meeting up with several major local players.

It’s truly hard to summarize my best bits from these four intense days but I’ll mention just a few.

APP discovery platforms – A growing revenue channel in the App world is emerging outside the traditional market landscape. The business model is based on increasing the user database by constantly adding new users to adopt the “app portal”. As a user, you gain access to various apps, which are promoted by catch phrases like “App of the day”, “Top apps”, “App reviewers” etc. Agencies and affiliate networks can collaborate with these platforms mainly by booking Burst Campaigns (delivering high amount of installation in a short period of time in order to reach the “Top Charts” in the App stores).

HTML 5 – Mobile content providers are penetrating the App world by developing HTML5 apps for their products. These can be found in the AppCenter of the carriers whereas the billing is made via telecom operator subscriptions. This business model enables mobile content providers to sell their wares directly to consumers rather than direct them into crowded app stores.

Real Time Bidding. A new dawn is rising in the online industry as the old fashioned non-educated bulk CPC and CPM buys are swiftly fading out, making room for RTB platforms. Many networks are either developing this technology in-house or acquiring DSPs as part of their repositioning endeavors.

Between the business, the prestige, the cocktail parties, the sightseeing, the innovation and the tapas! MWC is an absolute must for any mobile-driven activist out there. It was nothing short of a masterpiece.

Looking forward to MWC 2014!

My first Affiliate Summit in Vegas!

Feb
03

This was my first convention I have ever participated in for Matomy and it was also my first time in the USA, so my excitement was pretty high.

I arrived in Las Vegas 2 days before Affiliate Summit West started so I had the time to get used to the size of the new city I had never been to before.

To be honest, I didn’t have any idea what the show would be like and had heard lots of stories about the Meet Market and conference (intense networking) so at the beginning I was quite nervous.

When I arrived to the Meet Market on the first day to prepare our area I started to feel more relaxed and focused.  I knew what are my goals were and what I wanted to achieve at the show.

I met with our partners to discuss our new opportunities.  I focused on getting new exclusive campaigns, better payouts and better payment terms. It was great meeting our clients and really nice to see the face behind the email or the phone. I think that these meetings were important in order to increase the relationship between us and our partners, which is important for the future.

In addition to this, I had to find new networks that fit our division and approach them so we could start the working process- I had to search for networks that work with campaigns for incentive traffic.

ASW was great and it was a beneficial opportunity for me to learn more about the business and to be exposed to more topics that I wouldn’t hear about unless I was at Affiliate Summit. I met a lot of new people, learned about new businesses and at the same time understood more about ours as well.

How did we get on at ASW?

Jan
23

It was all systems go at Affiliate Summit West last week when we attended the action packed conference in Las Vegas.

And let me tell you… there was a lot happening at the show! I’m not just talking about the constant networking, meetings and parties. We showcased our new booth, hosted a swish party at the Mandarin Oriental hotel, heard we made it in the Blue Book top 20 CPA networks!  and were happy to answer all the questions about the MediaWhiz acquisition which generated a lot of excitement and interest.

ASW kicked off with the Meet Market, famed for its fast pace and large volumes of people who pour in to forge new business relationships with the hundreds of affiliate networks and merchants at the show. The buzz word was ‘mobile traffic’ and people wanting to find out what our best offers were. Business cards were being exchanged at the blink of an eye and things didn’t even slow down when the Meet Market was plunged into darkness due to a power cut.

That evening we hosted our affiliate party in the Mandarin Bar at the Mandarin Oriental hotel. Our affiliate guests were wowed with the view, food, open bar, gifts, good music and great company!  If you weren’t able to make the party at ASW, fear not! You can get another opportunity to party with us at Affiliate Summit East in August.

The next two days were at the booth in the conference where the team was busier than ever meeting with existing partners and making new business.  Our giveaways flew off the table with people wanting to wrap their iPhone and Galaxy’s in Matomy branded phone covers!

Affiliate Summit is a firm favorite with us folks at Matomy. We look forward to seeing you all again later on in the year at Affiliate Summit, Philadelphia.

Matomy Market made the Top 20 CPA Networks!

Jan
17

Matomy makes Top 20 CPA Networks 2013A while back, in November, we asked our publishers and advertisers to cast their vote for Matomy Market as an outstanding CPA network.  Well, you did, and we are proud to have made the Blue Book Top 20 CPA Networks for 2013.

We debuted on the list at #12, with our new family member MediaWhiz at #5 (great job guys!), and our partner company Adperio hit at #13.  3 spots in the Top 20 ain’t bad!

The famous Blue Book list, in their own words: “is not a simple list of the biggest networks. Instead, it takes into account reputation, influence, clientele, popularity and scale…we researched and aggregated expert views, traffic data, measures of industry influence and as many other pieces of data as we can gather.”

Thank you to all who participated and helped to get reach this important milestone.  We will continue to serve you well in 2013!

Ad:tech NY 2012- Video Going Viral

Nov
22

One of the dominant conversation topics of Ad:tech NY 2012 was the traction coming from the emerging Video Advertising Eco-system. Much of the trendy talk and buzz words this year were related to video advertising, as many of Matomy’s long standing partners, as well as many new partners, turn their focus and operations to this new trend of the industry.

It seems that everyone recognizes that 2013 will be the year in which TV and Online advertising will almost entirely converge, as large budgets from premium advertiser’s shift towards the online world. The question that  everyone was talking about was- how do we take a piece of this cake?!

Of course, this question doubles up with the already much discussed emerging mobile arena. As mobile advertising continues its rapid trajectory, more marketers are likely to weave video and rich media into their mobile spots.

Good thing that Matomy Media Group is proving itself as a leader in these evolving ecosystems- welcoming the opportunities and challenges that await the online advertising industry of 2013.
